End Users

Sulco has been producing sulphuric acid for over 30 years. When highly concentrated, this colourless liquid releases fumes and is called fuming sulphuric acid or Oleum. The Oleum is stored and transported in sealed containers to prevent the fumes from escaping
to the air or soil. Oleum is used in the production of laundry detergents and aluminum. Sulphuric acid is used in water treatment, car batteries and steel production. The product is shipped in bulk tank-trucks and railcars to customers in Southern Ontario, Quebec and New York State.

Sulco has recently begun producing sodium bisulphite. It is used by municipalities to remove excess chlorine in drinking water, for bleaching pulp in the pulp and paper industry, to remove excess chlorine used in controlling zebra mussel growth in industrial cooling water systems, and to remove metals from industrial waste water. It is transported by tank trucks to customers across Ontario.

Sulco also packages other corrosive materials such as caustic soda liquid and a range of acids in drums, carboys and portable reusable tanks for safe storage and transportation. Carboys are 20 litre plastic bottles.
