2010 Objectives and Targets

Objective 1:Continually improve and reduce the environmental, health and safety impacts from Sulco activities, products, and services.
Objective 2:Continually improve the Health & Safety programs to reduce risks related to Sulco activities, products, and services.
Objective 3:Meet or exceed all regulatory, legal and other requirements.
Objective 4:Maintain a proactive approach to providing information to the community concerning plant operations and initiatives taken for protecting the environment.

Target 1.1To reduce the annual SO2 emissions by 40% from 2009 levels of 0.00422 MT of SO2/MT of sulphur consumed to 0.00250 MT of SO2/MT of sulphur consumed in 2010.
Target 1.2Complete final phase of increasing sulphuric acid production by an additional 16% while decreasing sulphur dioxide emissions.
Target 1.3Achieve 0 reportable spills on-site during 2010.

Target 2.1Maintain 0 fire related incidents during 2010.
Target 2.2Maintain 0 lost time incidents during 2010.
Target 2.3Achieve 0 medical incidents during 2010.
Target 2.4Reach and maintain 100% training requirement completion as documented by corporate Health and Safety Coordinator.
Target 2.5Implement heated safety showers

Target 3.1Maintain 0 exceedances for M.I.S.A during 2010.
Target 3.2Maintain 0 incidents as measured by T.I.M. during 2010.
Target 3.3Monitor and record all incidents where the plant automatic shutdown is activated due to the high SO2 alarm (2400 ppm). Maintain less than 2 shutdowns during 2010 (excludes high alarms due to a power failure)

Target 4.1Hold a minimum of 2 CAP meetings in 2010.
Target 4.2Communicate with the community on EH&S at least once in 2010
Target 4.3As part of the CAER group, complete the distribution of the communications activities within the Township to improve Shelter-in-place awareness.
